Name : Dr. R. C. Bhattacharya

Ph. D . : National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology, IARI, New Delhi

Post-doctoral experince : Institute of Biological Chemistry, Washington State University, Pullman, Washington State, USA

Designation : Scientist (Sr. Scale)

Research Interests:

Plants have a variety of chemical defenses to protect themselves against insect herbivores and pathogens. These include the production of chemicals, from small organics to large proteins and enzymes with deterrent effects on attacking pest and pathogens. Our research is aimed towards understanding plants defense mechanism against pest and pathogens and associated signal transduction pathways. Main objective of our research is to identify and characterize various insecticidal genes and associated promoters to utilize them in developing insect resistance in crop plants.
